Frequently asked questions

How often does ToolBit check my site?

Every 60 seconds on all plans, including the free plan. There is no difference in check frequency between tiers - only the number of monitors differs.

What counts as "down"?

A check is considered failed if the HTTP request times out (>10s) or returns a non-2xx status code. Any status 200–299 is treated as up.

Will I get spammed if my site flaps?

No. ToolBit only sends an alert when status changes - from up to down, or from down to up. If your site bounces between states rapidly, you still only get one alert per transition.

Can I monitor an API endpoint, not just a website?

Yes. Any HTTP or HTTPS URL works - websites, REST APIs, health check endpoints, anything that responds to a GET request. As long as it returns a 2xx, it's considered up.

How many monitors do I get for free?

2 on the free plan. Starter gets 5, Pro gets 20, Elite gets unlimited. See the pricing page for full details.

Can I send alerts to a different email than my account email?

Yes. Each monitor has an optional "alert email" field. If set, downtime alerts for that monitor go to that address. Leave it blank to use your account email.
